Wingspan: Massive wingspan of 100 to 146 mm (3.5 to 4.5 in), making it one of the larger brush-footed butterflies.
Upper Wings: Features a wide, bright orange band across a dark black background, resembling molten lava in flight.
Underside: The underside features a dull, mottled brown and gray pattern that perfectly mimics a dead, decaying leaf.
