Famegana nisa is a small species of butterfly in the family Lycaenidae, commonly known as the Black-spotted Grass Blue.

Discovery: It was originally described in 1866 by the naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace as Lycaena nisa.
Synonymy: For over a century, its identity was a mystery until 2020, when it was shown to be a senior synonym and the valid name of the well-known butterfly Famegana alsulus.
Habitat: It mainly inhabits open areas with grass, meadows, and tropical or subtropical regions of Asia and Australia.
Characteristics: It is small in size (wings brownish on the upper underside and light with spots and marginal markings on the underside), and its larvae feed on flowers.
