Scopula submutata, commonly known as the Mediterranean lace border, is a species of moth belonging to the Geometridae family. Characterized by its ivory-white to grayish wings adorned with delicate wavy bands and intricate dark speckling, it blends seamlessly into its natural environments.
Scopula submutata is a moth of the family Geometridae. It is found in southern Europe, North Africa and the Near East. The habitat consists of open, dry grassland and rocky slopes.
The wingspan is 20–25 millimetres (0.79–0.98 in). There are two generations per year, with adults on wing from May to October.
The larvae feed on Thymus species and Origanum vulgare.

The species is widely distributed across Southern Europe, North Africa, and the Near East. It prefers warm, open environments such as:

• Dry, open grasslands
• Mediterranean maquis scrublands
Diet & Lifecycle
The caterpillars (larvae) of the Mediterranean lace border feed primarily on aromatic plants within the Lamiaceae (mint) family. Their preferred host plants include:
• Thymus species (Thyme)
• Origanum vulgare (Oregano / Wild Marjoram)
The species overwinters in its larval stage before pupating and emerging as an adult in the late spring.
