The Wave Moth (Scopula asellaria) is a small insect belonging to the geometer moth family Geometridae. It was first documented scientifically in 1847 by the German entomologist Gottlieb August Wilhelm Herrich-Schäffer.

Taxonomy: Belongs to the subfamily Sterrhinae (commonly known as the waves and mochas) and the tribe Scopulini.
Geographic Distribution: This species primarily inhabits southern Europe and North Africa.
Appearance: Like many other species in the genus Scopula, it features delicate wings with subtle, powdery speckling and wavy cross lines that help it blend seamlessly into natural backdrops like rocks or foliage.
Larval Stage: The caterpillars are typical "inchworms" or loopers, navigating their environments with a looping motion. They feed polyphagously on low-growing vegetation and herbs.
